An eight-wheel tire set for the Sd.Kfz. 234 with a spare, type 1 tread in 1:16 scale swaps all the wheels and the spare for parts with a weighted contact patch.
Responsibility details are not available.
Complete tires including the spare for a 1:16 model of the heavy reconnaissance armored car Sd.Kfz. 234. The word weighted means that the tires have the sag at the point of contact with the ground modeled; the qualifier type 1 then distinguishes one of the several tread patterns the vehicle wore during the war. Eight uncovered wheels make up a large part of the silhouette, so their shape decides the impression the whole model makes.
The Sd.Kfz. 234 was designed by Büssing-NAG as a successor to the older eight-wheeled Sd.Kfz. 231. The fundamental novelty was the self-supporting hull: the armored tub itself formed the load-bearing structure and the axles were hung directly on it, which saved weight and lowered the silhouette of the vehicle. For all its length the machine was surprisingly nimble and ranked among the best reconnaissance vehicles of the Second World War. It reached units from 1944, that is, at a time when reconnaissance was carried out mostly during withdrawals.
First check whether the axle stubs match the holes in the discs, and if need be open the hole up carefully with a round file. Fit the wheels only after the chassis has been painted, or you will have trouble reaching it with a brush. Check that they sit level on a sheet of glass, so that the model does not limp.
The set complements a finished kit and will not build any vehicle on its own.
