A large plastic figure of a German tank crewman in 1:16 scale from Tamiya. The subject captures the typical style of a tank crew with a black double-breasted jacket, trousers and practical footwear. The set offers variety: two right arm parts are provided and there is a choice of headgear, either an M43 field cap or an officer's field cap. The figure can be assembled in one of two natural poses. The large 1:16 scale leaves room for detailed painting of the face and for fine insignia and accessories.
The figure faithfully reproduces a German tank crewman of the Second World War. Finely rendered insignia are included, for example a cross and an assault badge, along with accessories such as a pistol holster or binoculars. Thanks to the choice of arm and headgear the figure can be adapted to a role and to the character of a scene; the set is treated matter-of-factly as material for a collection and for dioramas.
Choose the pose and the right arm before gluing and try them dry. After a primer, concentrate on the face: build the flesh tone up in layers and paint the eyes and shadows patiently. Handle the black tank uniform over a dark gray base with gentle edge highlighting, so that the details do not merge. Bring out the insignia and accessories with fine brushwork, and the folds with a wash and a dry brush.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a tank are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
