Responsibility details are not available.
The first part of a series of clear canopies for Japanese fighters in 1:72 scale. It includes the Nakajima Ki-84 Hayate and the Mitsubishi J2M3, J2M5 and J2M6 Raiden, that is machines from the late part of the Second World War which turn up repeatedly in kits in this scale.
A vacuum-formed part is made by drawing a thin clear film over a shaped master. The wall is therefore considerably thinner than on a part from a kit, and the canopy frame does not look oversized. The thin wall also lets you open the canopy and show the interior without the edge looking like a rim. The manufacturer gives the number of pieces in the package in the instructions.
Cut the part out together with some of the backing film, not exactly on the edge. Then sand the excess away in small steps on fine sandpaper laid on a flat board and keep checking how the part sits on the fuselage. Do not use super glue, as its fumes fog the clear surface; reach for glue for clear parts or for PVA glue, which dries clear. Clarity is helped by a brief dip in gloss clear, which evens out small scratches. Mask the frames and spray them only after the part has been glued in.
For builders who are bothered by a thick canopy from a kit, and for those who want to build the model with the canopy open. The package holds the canopies only; the model of the aircraft, masks, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
