The version is double-sided (Express): the masks cover the glazing from the outer as well as the inner side, so the canopy frames get a clean shade from both views. This is not a kit but an accessory that makes painting the long glazed canopy easier.

The real subject

The Aichi D3A, known to the Allies as Val, was a Japanese carrier-borne dive bomber of the Second World War. It was used in practically every major operation of the Imperial Japanese Navy, including the attack on Pearl Harbor. A model in the large 1:32 scale has extensive glazing with many frames, and masking those by hand is slow work.

Use

• Lift the parts off the sheet with tweezers and stick them onto clean, degreased glazing.
• Apply the inner masks before closing the canopy and the outer ones before painting.
• Spray the interior color of the frame first, then the final outer shade.
• Remove the masks while the clear coat is still fresh.
