This is a masking set, not a kit and not a part that would stay on the model. The masks are cut in advance to the shape of the individual frames of the glazing; they are laid on the clear part, the paint is sprayed over them and once it is dry they are carefully taken off. The one-sided designation says that the set is worked out for one side of the glazing, that is, for masking from outside; for the same type Art Scale also issues a double-sided version, which deals with the view into the cockpit from inside as well.
Cutting frames from masking tape directly on the model is the most time-consuming and most nerve-racking part of the work on a cockpit with several curves. The knife has to run along the edge of a frame but must not cut into the plastic, and a single slip of the blade is visible on the finished model for good. A pre-cut set does away with that step entirely: the items are simply peeled off the sheet, laid in the right place and pressed down. The result is a sharp transition of color exactly where it belongs and clean glazing, free of adhesive residues and of fingerprints.
The F-14D was the last production version of the two-seat carrier fighter aircraft with a variable-geometry wing. It differed from the earlier versions chiefly in its powerplant and its modernized avionics. Its cockpit is long, holds two crew and has pronounced framing, so masking by hand is particularly laborious here and the set pays off.
The set is cut for a particular kit of the type in question in 1:48 scale - check before buying that you have the matching model. The paints, the thinner and the model itself are not included in the package.
