Pre-cut painting masks for building a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 or E-7 in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory for the painting stage. The masks have a ready-made shape matching the parts of the Tamiya kit, so there is no measuring out and cutting of tape directly on the kit - an activity in which, in 1:72 scale, a single hesitation of the scalpel is enough and a transparent part is scratched.
The one-sided version is meant for masking from the outside of a part. If you need the glazing frames painted from inside as well, this brand has double-sided sets as a separate item. Check how many masks the package holds and which parts they cover against the details on the packaging.
The E-4 and E-7 versions are among the later guises of the Bf 109E series with the Daimler-Benz DB 601 inverted V12. The E-7 is known above all for being able to carry a drop tank or a bomb under the fuselage, which made it a more versatile machine than the early sub-versions. Both share the typical angular shape of the cockpit, which is exactly what a mask helps to clean up.
Wash the transparent parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry thoroughly. Take a mask off with tweezers and seat it precisely along the engraved frame; press the edges down with the blunt tip of a toothpick. Then comes the spraying of the interior color, and only after that the outer camouflage - otherwise the shade of the outer finish would show through from inside. Take a mask off while the paint is still fresh.
The package holds painting masks only. Neither the model nor the paints are part of it.
