A set of pre-cut painting masks for building a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3 in 1:72 scale. It is neither a kit nor a set of accessory parts - it is an aid for painting. The masks are cut to the shape of particular parts, so they are simply peeled off the backing and stuck on; in a small scale, where a cockpit frame is a tenth of a millimeter wide, that is the difference between a clean model and a smeared line.
The one-sided version means that the masks are prepared for masking from one side of a part, that is, from outside. That is amply enough if you paint a cockpit in the usual way from outside. If you want the frames visible from the inner side of the glazing as well, look for the double-sided variant - with this brand it is sold as a separate item. Check the exact number of masks against the details on the packaging.
The Bf 109E, nicknamed Emil, was the version with the Daimler-Benz DB 601 inverted V12 and with the angular outlines of cockpit and wing that differ strikingly from the later F and G series. The E-3 sub-version is among the early guises of this series and in 1:72 scale it is a popular subject precisely because of the number of color schemes.
First wash the transparent parts in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry off - grease from your fingers is the commonest reason why a mask does not hold. Carry a mask over with tweezers, seat it along the frame and press the edge down with a toothpick. Then comes a thin spraying of the interior color, after that the outer camouflage. Take a mask off right after the paint has flashed off, not after several days.
The package holds painting masks only. Neither the kit nor the paints are part of it.
