Light finishes call for tidiness
On a dark model a slight dusting is lost; on a light finish it is not. White, sand, light gray and bright colors give away every grain of pigment that falls on them by mistake, and removing it from them is harder than from a dark surface. Anyone building a model in light shades should therefore work over a surface, keep a clean wide brush to hand for dusting off, and not touch the model with a hand covered in dust from the previous job.
It also pays to separate the space. Open the container away from the model, take the powder up over a piece of paper and cover unfinished work between sessions, so that not even ordinary household dust settles on it. Powder left on the paper can be tipped back, but only when you are sure it has not been mixed with another shade. So close the pots right after use and do not have several open at once.
For modelers who weather lightly finished models as well and want to keep control of the dust in their workshop. Tidiness in working with pigments saves more time than any trick of application.
A loose powder: do not inhale it, work over a surface and out of a draft, and wash your hands and tidy the working area after work. Keep out of the reach of children.
