On figures the dry brush is older than the airbrush and to this day it is one of the quickest ways to get out of a sculpted detail what its author put into it. The modeler runs it over the folds of cloth, buckles, straps and harness, hair, fur and over the features of a face. The paint clings to the peaks of the modeling and emphasizes a shape that would otherwise disappear under a uniform coat, including on figures in smaller scales, where there is no room for classic shading and highlighting with a brush.
The dry brush goes well with color highlighting and with shading in the recesses. The usual order is from dark to light: the base, deepening the shadows and only then the dry brush as the last light accent. Once the effect is finished the model is usually unified with a final surface coat, so that all the techniques used have the same sheen.
For painters of figures and busts, builders of dioramas and anyone who wants to bring out sculpted detail quickly and without an airbrush.
Keep the paint well closed and out of the reach of children, and ventilate while working. Instructions for thinning and handling are on the manufacturer's packaging.
