French SNCF Locomotives, a paint set for French locomotives

A set of water-thinnable acrylic paints by AMMO of Mig Jimenez from his railroad range. Thematically it is aimed at the locomotives of the French national railroads, SNCF, so a modeler does not have to look for the shades and mix them bottle by bottle across the whole range.

Use

• Apply the paints with a brush and with an airbrush; stir them thoroughly before work, because pigment in acrylic settles to the bottom.
• On smoothly sprayed plastic, acrylic holds best over a primer coat, and the primer at the same time reveals imperfections in the body and the frame.
• Railroad models are painted in assemblies: body, running gear, roof and interior separately, and only then is the model put together.
• Before the decals, let the surface dry and unify it with varnish; only at the end comes the weathering, soot on the roof and dust on the running gear.
• It is thinned with water or with an acrylic thinner of the same chemistry; wash brushes out immediately after work.

Who the set is for

For railroad modelers building French subjects and for diorama builders who need the colors of rail vehicles and their surroundings. It also serves as a starting palette for civilian vehicles, where muted service tones come in useful.

With railroad models, restraint decides the result above all. A locomotive in service is neither new nor wrecked: the body fades in the sun, the roof carries soot and grease, and the running gear and bogies carry dust and brake dust. Take the paints in the set, therefore, as a starting point that you will still work up on the model with a filter, a wash and dry brushing, so that the surface does not read as uniform.

Check the particular shades, their number and the volume of the bottles on the box. Store the paints closed and out of the reach of children.
