The Kodiak is an armored engineering vehicle built on the chassis of the Leopard 2, a machine full of working tools, a dozer blade and an arm. This SX-Art accessory in 1:35 scale adds one single but striking detail to it: a lively shine in the optical devices. Neither the kit nor any plastic parts are included. The target kit is Border.
The holographic layer does not glow by itself, it only breaks up whatever falls on it. It therefore pays to think about how the model will finally be displayed. Under diffuse ceiling light you will see soft shifts of color, while under a spotlight in a case you will get sharp flashes that change as you walk past the model. When photographing it, moving the light source a little to one side is enough to bring the vision ports to life. On a working machine such as the Kodiak this contrast works well against the knocked-about and dusty surface of the hull.
The film is not painted or clear-coated. It goes on at the very end, after clear coat, decals and weathering, into a clean and dry vision port seat. Use tweezers to handle it and a soft stick to press it down, never a fingernail.
