1:35 Holographic film Challenger 2 is a small accessory for a model of the British tank. On an otherwise matte vehicle it creates a few glossy points that the viewer's eye goes to first.
Responsibility details are not available.
The British Challenger 2 main battle tank is a typical modeling subject: a large area of armor, a matte finish, dust and mud. This SX-Art accessory in 1:35 scale brings the exact opposite into such a model, namely a few small glossy surfaces that make up the optics of the vehicle. It is not a kit and not a set of replacement plastic parts.
On a finished model the periscopes and vision ports make up a fraction of the total area, yet they weigh on the overall impression surprisingly heavily. The human eye reads a scene by its brightest points, and when all of them are blanked out with black paint the model looks blind and flat. The holographic layer breaks light up into colored glints, so the vision ports become points that change according to where you look from. It is on a vehicle in matte camouflage that this difference shows best.
The film is not painted or clear-coated, otherwise the effect is lost. It goes on as the very last step of the build. Before seating it, check whether the vision port recess is clean, dry and free of pigment residue, because dust under the film then shows. Fine-tipped tweezers and a well-lit workplace will make handling easier.
