A pre-cut self-adhesive mask from Art Scale for a model of the Italian Reggiane Re.2005 fighter in 1:48 scale. According to the name the set is double-sided, so besides the parts for the outer side of the glazing it also holds parts for the inner side.
When the frames are sprayed only from the outside, they stay translucent when seen through the glass and keep the shade of the clear plastic. On a closed canopy that does not matter, but as soon as a model has the canopy open, a painted cockpit and somebody looks into it, the difference is conspicuous. A double-sided set deals with exactly that: the inner parts let you spray the frames from the inside in the interior shade, so the glass reads as real glazing in a frame rather than as transparent plastic with stripes on the outside. On the Re.2005, with its fairly large canopy and low rear glazing, this detail is clearly visible.
Stick the inner parts on first, spray the frames in the interior shade and let them dry. Only then mask from the outside and spray the camouflage. Degrease the clear part before every step in lukewarm water with dish soap and let it dry in the open. Lift the parts off the sheet with the tip of a knife, seat them dry and press them down with a toothpick around the perimeter, above all in the corners, where paint bleeds most often. Take the mask off shortly after it has dried, at a shallow angle backward.
