Excel Lexan Scissors Curved are modeling scissors with curved blades for cutting thin plastic film and sheet. The curve lets you lead the cut around an arc and still see the line.
Responsibility details are not available.
These scissors are made for thin plastic, not for paper and not for metal. Curved blades do not rest against the material beneath them during the cut, so they do not twist the film or pull it out of your hand. They are typically used on polycarbonate and transparent plastic bodies, on formed plastic for a diorama and on plain smooth plastic sheet that a modeler divides into strips and shapes.
Why curved and not straight
Straight scissors lead a cut only as far as you can see past your own hand. Curved blades, by contrast, keep the hand clear of the line, so you can see the line throughout the cut and get around an arc beside a wheel arch, a cutout or a rounded corner more easily. When cutting a long straight edge it is better to alternate: cut roughly with the scissors and level it with a knife against a ruler.
Scissors for plastic do not belong on photo-etched parts, wire or any other metal foil. Metal blunts the blades or puts a nick in them, which then prints into every cut that follows. Thin plastic also tends to crack when cut cold and quickly; lead the cut smoothly and do not close the scissors right down to the tip. Cut transparent parts with the protective film still on the surface as long as you can.
Wipe the blades after work and leave them dry. Reserve the scissors for plastic alone, as sharing them with paper and adhesive tape shortens their life.
