The decal sheet Mark I 1:144 British WWI Night Fighter roundels Pt.1 brings British national insignia for night-flying machines of the First World War. It is not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a decal sheet with British national insignia for First World War aircraft in the form used on night machines, in 1:144 scale. It is not a model and not a mask set, but decals that you transfer onto a finished, painted model. The designation Pt.1 means that this is the first part of a two-part series; the manufacturer carries the second part as a separate item. Behind the Mark I brand stands a Czech manufacturer that has long concentrated on the small 1:144 scale.
British national insignia in the First World War took the form of concentric circles. On machines flying at night, however, the ordinary form proved a problem: the light area of the insignia was clearly visible in the dark and spoiled the intended blending of the aircraft with the background. Units therefore modified the insignia, for example by subduing the light part or changing the proportions of the circles, and the resulting variants differed from machine to machine. For a modeler it is a rewarding subject precisely because such markings are not normally found in the box with a kit.
Decals belong only on a smooth, gloss surface. First overcoat the model with gloss varnish, so that no air stays under the decal and the insignia does not show silvering. Cut the piece out as close to the edge of the printing as possible, soak it in clean lukewarm water and let it rest for a few dozen seconds until it releases from the backing. Settle it in place, soak up the excess water with a paper tissue and smooth out any ripples with a decal softener. Once it has dried, unify the whole model with matte or satin varnish, so that the edges of the decal disappear.
The decal sheet is an accessory for a model. It does not contain a kit or paints.
