This item is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right. You get a resin commander cupola that is used during the build in place of the plastic part from the kit. The casting comes as a single piece, so there is no parting line around the circumference that would have to be sanded down with the lost detail then restored.
The commander cupola is one of the details by which the individual production batches of Shermans are told apart. The manufacturer therefore offers it in several patterns and this item is marked as the standard one. Choose according to the vehicle you are building: for British service the manufacturer makes a separate version. The cupola is visible on the model from the most common viewing angle, so the work put into one part shows in the result more than its size would suggest.
Wash the part in lukewarm soapy water before gluing, because mold release residue otherwise repels paint. Cut the casting block off with a fine saw, level the mating surface on abrasive paper laid on a flat support and bond the part with super glue. Once it is painted, a dark wash that runs into the hatch gaps and around the periscopes helps, together with a light lift of the edges with a dry brush.
