Eduard 1:24 F6F-5 interior is a photo-etched set for detailing the cockpit of a model of the F6F-5 carrier fighter in 1:24 scale. It replaces simplified plastic parts with thin metal ones that better match the real thickness of sheet metal.

The set belongs among aftermarket accessories, not among kits. It contains photo-etched metal parts for the cockpit area of a model in 1:24 scale: above all the surfaces of the instrument panel, the side consoles, levers, brackets and small fittings, which cannot be cast in plastic at a realistic thickness. In the large 1:24 scale the cockpit is one of the most closely examined places on a model, so the difference between a plastic and a photo-etched treatment shows at first glance.
The F6F-5 was the late production version of the American Hellcat carrier fighter of the Second World War period: a single-engined all-metal low-wing monoplane with a radial engine and folding wings for operation from aircraft carriers. The cockpit had typical American carrier equipment with a prominent instrument panel and richly divided side consoles, which is exactly what a photo-etched set gives substance to.
Cut the parts from the fret on a hard surface with a sharp knife, not with nippers: breaking them out leaves a burr. Make the bends in a bending tool or between two blades, so that the edge is crisp and straight. It is glued with cyanoacrylate applied in a microscopic amount with a pin; classic plastic cement does not hold on metal. Use a primer intended for metal under the paint, otherwise the shade will start to peel during handling. Do not sand or spray over any color-printed surfaces if the set contains them: they can only be emphasized with a light wash and sealed with a matte coat.
This is an accessory for modelers, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
