A plastic kit of the heavy BM-30 Smerch rocket launcher in 1:72 scale from the Russian manufacturer Zvezda. Rocket launchers are among the most striking models of ground machinery: they are dominated by the pack of launch tubes on a rotating launcher frame, which gives the model an unmistakable silhouette. You will find the exact contents on the box.
The BM-30 Smerch is a Soviet and later Russian 300 mm rocket launcher system, also carried under the designation 9K58. The firing element is a pack of launch tubes seated on a heavy off-road chassis with all-wheel drive, which gives the whole assembly great mobility. The Smerch was designed as a long-range complement to the lighter launchers of the Grad and Uragan series and is intended for area destruction of targets in the depth of an opponent's formation. Besides the launch vehicle, reloading and support vehicles belong to the system as well. The system entered service with a number of armies and appears in contemporary conflicts too.
Build and paint the wheeled chassis as a separate subassembly and leave the tires aside until the end of the painting - the wheels on this type make up a prominent part of the silhouette. The pack of launch tubes deserves attention: darken the mouths of the tubes so that they do not look flat, and check that the whole frame seats symmetrically. Russian machinery is usually displayed in a uniform green tone, where a fine wash into the joints, edge highlighting and dust pigments on the chassis and fenders stand out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
