A set of masks for a model of the Japanese Mitsubishi Ki-21-Ib bomber in 1:72 scale, according to the name meant for the ICM kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Ki-21 was a Japanese twin-engine bomber that the Allies listed under the code name Sally. The Ib designation belongs to an early version of this series. For building a model the important thing is that the machine has extensive glazing, that is exactly the place where masking by hand takes the most time and where every edge that runs astray shows.
A mask is a pre-cut shape that is stuck onto the surface, covers it during spraying and, once lifted off, leaves a sharp edge behind. Against tape stuck down by hand it saves time and above all holds its shape even on curved areas and in corners, where tape wrinkles. The extent of the set, that is which particular areas it covers, is stated by the manufacturer.
It will be appreciated by anyone building this type in 1:72 scale who does not want to spend an evening cutting tape. A set of masks is supplied; the kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
