Blood Effect from AK interactive is an acrylic effect product from the modeling effects range that imitates the look of blood. It serves for finishing figures and scenes, for suggesting wounds, spatter, drops and marks. The shade is deliberately darker and of a deep red-brown tonality, because that looks more realistic on a model than a pure bright red.

What it is and what it is not: it is a ready-made effect in the color of blood, not an ordinary red paint for covering areas, not a wash, and not a thick gel paste for building up bulk. It does not work like a pigment (it is not a loose powder) and it is not meant for painting a model overall. The manufacturer offers complementary effects in the same range with which a scene can be taken further.

Use

• Shake thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom.
• Apply it with a fine brush in small amounts; less is more, and too much looks unconvincing.
• Work with gravity: marks that run downward, such as dripping drops or spatter below a wound, look natural.
• Layering helps realism: thinner, soaked-in areas as a base and deep accents at the wound itself.
• Fresh blood is glossy, while dried blood is matte and darker. Use a clear coat to set the difference between a fresh and an old area: gloss on fresh drops, matte on dried areas.
• Thinning it gives a finer, soaked-in tint on fabric or on bandages.

Who it is for

For figure painters and diorama builders: historical combat scenes, horror and fantasy models, wargaming miniatures. It is used as the final, finishing touch on a scene, once everything else is done.

Safety: use it in a well-ventilated room, do not inhale the fumes or the spray mist (use respiratory protection when spraying) and avoid contact with the eyes. Keep out of the reach of children. It is not a toy and not a cosmetic; the product is intended solely for modeling use, not for skin.
