A masking set in 1:48 scale for models of the light single-engined aircraft Heinkel He 70 and its export version the He 170 from the Omask brand. It is not a kit and not a model on its own but an accessory that serves for accurate painting of glazed areas and other sharply bounded details.
The Heinkel He 70 arose at the start of the 1930s as a fast transport and courier machine with an aerodynamically clean fuselage, an elliptical wing and retractable landing gear. In its day it was among the fastest aircraft of its category and it earned the nickname Blitz. Besides civil operation it reached military service as well, where it carried out courier, liaison and reconnaissance tasks. The version designated He 170 was delivered to the Royal Hungarian Air Force, which used it mainly for reconnaissance. The characteristic shape of the fuselage and the extensive glazing of the cabin make this aircraft a rewarding subject, on which cleanly sprayed frames show in the overall impression more than on an ordinary fighter.
The parts are laid on the transparencies before spraying, so the frame of the cabin gets a sharp edge with no painting around it by hand with a brush. Clean and degrease the glazing beforehand, seat the individual masks one after another and press them down gently on curves with a blunt tool. Apply the paint in several thin coats, because a heavy coat peels away easily when the mask is removed. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has set, not after it has cured completely.
