The real subject

The Mitsubishi A6M2 model 21, known around the world as the Zero, was a Japanese carrier fighter of the beginning of the war in the Pacific. It was built by Mitsubishi and under license by Nakajima as well, and the machines from the two lines differed in the details of the cockpit. This set is prepared for the rendering from Mitsubishi production.

What the set contains

Colored three-dimensional interior elements for a model in 1:32 scale. They have relief, so the instruments, levers and panels gain a depth that flat printing cannot manage. They are fitted onto the parts from the kit and do away with the slow business of coloring the small details of the cockpit by hand. In 1:32 scale the cockpit is clearly visible once the model is finished, so work on the interior tells in the result more than it does in the smaller scales.

Application

The elements are printed on a backing decal paper and have no adhesive layer of their own. First wash the area in the cockpit, degrease it, paint it and go over it with a gloss clear coat of the Future, Klear or Tamiya X-22 kind; the elements hold reliably on gloss. Leave the cut-out piece in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds, slide it off the paper into place and press it down with a soft tool from the center toward the edges. On curved surfaces press it down gradually, section by section, and help yourself with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue. Do not use a decal softener or a setting solution; they would attack the printed resin. The exact placement of the individual parts is given in the instructions of the manufacturer.

Who it is for

The set suits modelers who are building a Zero with the canopy slid back and want a colored interior without patiently coloring dials. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
