A photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:32 scale meant for refining the engine sections of the Boeing B-17E/F Flying Fortress heavy bomber. It is not an airplane model but a set of fine photo-etched parts, which a modeler adds to a plastic kit to gain truer detail on the radial engines and their surroundings.
The etching replaces and supplements the simplified plastic parts with finer metal features, such as sheet metal covers, stiffeners and the connecting and fastening details of the engine section. The result is deeper and more realistic definition, which bare plastic lacks.
Cut the parts off with a sharp blade right at the fret, form the bends over an etching bending tool and glue with super glue. Bare brass etching is worth degreasing and spraying with a base coat (primer) before painting, so that the paint holds well.
This is an accessory, not a stand-alone model. The plastic kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
