A decal sheet in 1:32 scale for the British Hawk jet in the T.1A version in gray camouflage. The product is a standalone accessory for a model, not a kit. It is made by the British firm Xtradecal.
The Hawk is a single-engined jet with two seats in tandem that came about as an advanced trainer and in the Royal Air Force was also used for weapons training. The T.1A form represents a modified version able to carry armament. The gray camouflage scheme replaced the earlier, more contrasting finishes and is typical of the later period of service. For a model it means a low contrast across the whole surface, where the markings carry the main visual weight.
The Hawk has a slim fuselage of circular section and most of the prominent decals go precisely over curved surfaces. A decal laid on a cylindrical surface lifts at the edges and forms creases. Work from the middle, therefore: settle the decal with its axis on the highest point of the curve, blot the water away from the middle and only then press the edges outward gradually with a brush. Where the film starts to wrinkle, help it with a softener and let it work without touching it. With larger markings over a strongly curved place it is legitimate to divide the decal with a cut along a panel line and settle it in two pieces, as the join disappears once dry. On subdued gray bases a final unifying coat of semi-matte varnish works well.
