A set of masks for a large model of the early version of the Messerschmitt Bf 109E. It covers the angular grid in two layers and adds two patterns for spraying the crosses and a decal extra.

The cockpit of the Emil is assembled from flat panes in a massive frame that hinged open as a whole to the right. From a distance that grid is perhaps the most prominent feature of the whole aircraft and at the same time the greatest trap when painting: every bar has the light gray shade of the machinery from the cockpit and camouflage gray from outside, so two different colors lie side by side on one piece of plastic.
That is exactly what the pair of films in the box solves. The inside is sprayed first, then the acrylic is set into the fuselage and the outer face is masked. Without an inner mask the frame would have to be painted with a brush, and a trace of bristles shows under a clear material in a large scale.
The cockpit also hinges only to one side, so on a finished model you look over the whole inner face of the cover. The early Emils carried a simple camouflage with austere blotches and their insignia have hard, straight edges. Spraying through film manages them more precisely than a decal, which breaks at the wing edge and, once dry, emphasizes its own outline.
Paint the hinged part of the cockpit separately and fit it right at the end. The hinge is small and the film will not hold on it if the part is already glued to the fuselage.
