Stencils for the Bf 109F-4 and the fighter-bomber F-4/B in 1:32 scale. The glazing covered from the face and the inner side, two insignia cut-outs and decals with them.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-4 version is a machine that reached three very different theaters, and each of them forced different colors on it. Over the Mediterranean and in North Africa the gray European finish proved unusable and was replaced by a sand upper surface with a light blue underside, on many machines supplemented with irregular green fields that were sprayed in at the unit out in the field.
With it goes a second layer of markings whose purpose is the opposite: a white band around the rear part of the fuselage and light wingtips on machines in the Mediterranean, yellow areas in the east. These were theater recognition bands, not camouflage; they were meant to keep one of your own fighters from attacking its own side. A model looks incomplete without them, and conversely with them for the wrong theater it looks false.
The designation F-4/B belongs to the finish adapted for carrying a bomb under the fuselage, which flew very low over the target, and so you will also meet darker treatments of its underside. The set deals with the framing of the canopy from the outer and the inner side and adds two stencils for spraying the national insignia. The decals are in the package.
The green blotches sprayed in out in the field had a very soft edge and an irregular shape, so it pays to apply them freehand and not to work with a stencil for them.
