Masks for the late Messerschmitt Bf 109G-14 in 1:32 scale. They contain parts for both faces of the canopy, two insignia masks and decals.
Responsibility details are not available.
The late versions of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 received the canopy known as the Erla Haube, which replaced the older, markedly divided design. The difference is immediately apparent on a model: the vertical bars at the sides disappeared, leaving essentially a single large hinged part with a minimum of bracing, and with it a pane of armored glass set into the glazing at the rear rather than on a separate frame behind the headrest. The pilot thereby gained the view that had been argued over for years on the older machines.
The opposite, in fact. On a divided canopy every bar holds the mask, whereas on a large smooth part everything depends on how precisely the perimeter line falls and how cleanly it skirts the inset armored pane. The set therefore carries a layer of parts for the outer and the inner face and, with them, two national insignia masks. The box also holds decals, which sets this item apart from most neighboring masking sets.
Mask the armored pane with a separate piece and leave a narrow margin around it, as paint beyond the edge is clearly visible in this spot. Apply the decals only onto a matured finish, ideally after all the mask pieces have been removed and a gloss coat laid on, one on which the decal carrier will not shatter.
