Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress American Beauty is a Kits-World decal set in 1:32 scale for one particular machine of the 834th Bomb Squadron of the 486th Bomb Group.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a set of waterslide decals in 1:32 scale, not a kit. The set is aimed at a single particular B-17G Flying Fortress aircraft with the serial number 42-98008, the code of the 834th Bomb Squadron of the 486th Bomb Group and the personal name American Beauty. To be able to use it you need a matching B-17G kit in the same scale; neither that nor paints are included in the package.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was a four-engine heavy bomber of American manufacture. The G version represented the last and most widespread production form, recognizable above all by the chin turret under the nose. The machines of the 486th Bomb Group operated in the second half of the war from British bases within the daylight bombing formations. The individual aircraft carried a combination of group and squadron markings together with an individual letter and often a personal name and nose art as well, which the crews had painted on the nose.
In a large scale and with extensive nose art the most frequent mistake is silvering, that is a milky veil around the decal. It arises because air gets under the film, and one thing alone reliably prevents it: a perfectly smooth gloss base. Once the base coat is finished, therefore, spray the area with a gloss varnish, let it cure properly and only then apply the decals. Carry the large decals to their place together with the backing paper and only then slide the paper out, or the film will fold in on itself. Once it has dried, take another varnish over the whole area to bed the decal in, and flatten the finish only at the end.
It is an accessory, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
