An injection-molded plastic kit of the Cessna O-2A Skymaster observation and reconnaissance aircraft in 1:32 scale from Roden. The model captures the characteristic twin-boom layout with the engines arranged on the center line of the fuselage. The cabin glazing is handled as a separate clear part; check the exact contents of the package and the number of schemes against the instruction sheet. Paints and glue are not included in the package.
The O-2 Skymaster was the military variant of the civil Cessna 337 Super Skymaster. Its peculiarity was the arrangement of two engines on the center line of the fuselage, one with a tractor propeller at the front and the other with a pusher propeller at the rear, and a pair of tail booms. It served mainly for forward air control, observation and liaison duties, and was deployed above all in the Vietnam War. The in-line arrangement of the engines made for safer running even if one of them failed.
Mask the extensive cabin glazing carefully, ideally with precise masks, and paint it with an airbrush over a thin primer. The cockpit is worth detailing, because it is clearly visible through the large windows. Use thin cement on the plastic joints. Take care that both tail booms seat correctly and symmetrically, so that the model stands straight.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
