A plastic kit of the light combat aircraft Reims-Cessna FTB337G Lynx in the large 1:32 scale from the Ukrainian brand Roden. It is a classic injection-molded model in polystyrene with clear parts for the glazing and a decal sheet. The package also includes underwing stores for the pylons under the wing, so the model can be built in a combat configuration.
The Cessna 337 Skymaster is a twin-engined high-wing aircraft with an unusual arrangement of its powerplant: the engines are placed on the axis of the fuselage, one a tractor at the front and one a pusher at the rear, and the tail surfaces are carried by a pair of booms. This solution removes the asymmetric thrust in the event of the failure of one engine. The militarily oriented FTB337G version with a strengthened structure and pylons under the wing was built under license by Reims Aviation of France. The Rhodesian Air Force took the machines into service under the name Lynx in the second half of the 1970s and used them for reconnaissance, observation, the direction of fire and light attack tasks. The combination of good endurance, slow flight and the ability to carry stores made it a universally deployable type in local conditions.
In 1:32 scale the interior of the cockpit is very clearly visible, so it pays to devote time to the instrument panel, the seats and the belts. Glue the parts with liquid cement for polystyrene applied by capillary action. With models of this brand we recommend a dry test of the parts before gluing and a slight adjustment of the mating surfaces, especially on the fuselage booms and the engine cowlings. Mask the glazing before spraying and glue it in only after painting. The painting procedure is standard: a primer, the base camouflage shades with an airbrush, a gloss varnish under the decals and finally a matte varnish. Given the dusty conditions of service, a sparing emphasis on the panel lines and light dust effects on the lower surface and the landing gear suit it.
