This set of 3D decals from Quinta Studio replaces the painting and the photo-etched parts of the instrument panel and the walls of the pilot's compartment of the American Curtiss H-75 Hawk fighter in 1:32 scale. It is shaped for the plastic H-75 Hawk kit from Special Hobby.
A 3D decal combines a decal with 3D printing: it has real thickness and a three-dimensional relief, so the instruments, levers, switches and even the stitching of the belts really stand proud and cast a shadow when seen from the side. The part is also finished in color beforehand, so the laborious painting of tiny cockpit detail falls away.
First remove the molded suggestion of the instruments from the plastic cockpit parts, so that the decal beds onto a flat surface. A slower-drying glue (PVA, for example) works well, as it gives you time to position it accurately; cyanoacrylate glue can also be used at individual points. The material is flexible, but the small pieces are fragile, so work carefully and with tweezers. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as they attack the printed resin. No painting is needed, and the instrument faces have a glossy surface imitating glass.
This is a detail accessory for modelers, not a kit. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
