Spraying masks for the markings of a model of the Curtiss P-40E Warhawk in 1:32 scale, cut for the kit from Trumpeter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Curtiss P-40E is among the best known American fighters of the beginning of the Second World War. It is powered by an Allison V-1710 V12 and in British service the machine carried the name Kittyhawk. It was neither the fastest nor the most agile, but it was sturdy, easy to repair and available when it was needed; it therefore flew in North Africa, in the Pacific and over China. A characteristic feature of many machines was the shark mouth painted around the radiator under the nose.
Masks for spraying insignia and markings, cut to the shape of the parts of the P-40E kit in 1:32 scale from Trumpeter. Sprayed markings have two advantages over decals: no glossy carrier film is left underneath that would give itself away on a matte finish, and they take later accenting and dirtying better. How many masks the package contains and which markings it covers are given in the manufacturer's instructions. Check the match with your kit in advance, as the masks are cut for a particular shape of part.
The masks are applied before spraying, not after it. First finish the base camouflage and let it cure properly, and only then lay the mask down and press its edges carefully so that paint does not run underneath. Spray perpendicular to the surface and in several light passes, because one heavy coat will get under the edge every time. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, with the tip of a knife or with tweezers and with a pull at an angle to the surface rather than straight upward.
The package contains masks. Paints, varnish and tools are not included, unless stated otherwise.
