The real subject

The Curtiss P-40 is among the most widespread American fighters of the Second World War and the P-40M version is one of the later production forms. You recognize it at first glance by its long nose and the prominent air scoop beneath it. It is exactly the long nose and the large glazed cockpit canopy that make painting in 1:32 scale work where every inaccurate edge shows.

What the set contains

The set brings masking pieces for painting a P-40M model in 1:32 scale and is intended for the kit from the Trumpeter company. The shapes derive from the division of the parts of this kit, so with a model from another manufacturer a fit is not guaranteed. The extent of the set is described in the manufacturer's instructions.

Building and painting tips

The masks go on the model before spraying. Wash and degrease the surface, otherwise the paint creeps under the edge. Lay the piece on, press it down mainly around the edge and apply the paint in thin coats perpendicular to the edge of the mask.

• Remove the mask as soon as the paint has dried, not after several days
• Pick the pieces up with tweezers; do not touch the adhesive side with your fingers
• On glazing spray the interior shade first and then the exterior color
• Correct any creep with a fine brush while the repair is still small
