A self-adhesive masking set in 1:32 scale for a plastic model of the Dornier Do 335 aircraft of the A series. It is neither a kit nor a set of decals: it is an accessory intended for painting. The masks are stuck onto the clear part following the framing, sprayed over together with the surrounding area and removed once dry, so the glass stays transparent and the frames have a crisp edge. The single-sided form covers the outer side of the clear parts. The masks are cut for the HK Models kit.
The Do 335 Pfeil was a German aircraft with a tandem arrangement of its powerplant: the front engine drove a tractor propeller, the rear one a pusher propeller placed behind the cruciform tail. This solution was meant to combine the performance of a twin-engine aircraft with the aerodynamics of a single-engine airframe. The A series was the basic single-seat form; the program did not reach wider series production before the end of the war. The cockpit is divided into several framed panes, for which a ready-made mask pays off especially in a large scale.
Wash the clear part in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry so that the mask adheres all around. Lift the individual masks out with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers, seat them precisely on the frame and press them down with a wooden stick. Where the shape needs to be drawn out to the edge of the frame, make the cut with a new blade and no unnecessary pressure, because clear plastic scratches easily and a scratch can no longer be hidden. Spray the paint in thin coats with a pause; one heavy coat creeps under the edge of the mask. The usual procedure is to spray the interior shade and, once it is dry, the outer covering color. Remove the masks shortly after they are dry, pulling at an angle along the surface.
The package contains only the masking set. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
