A self-adhesive masking set in 1:32 scale for the plastic model of the Dornier Do 335B-6 aircraft. It is not a kit or decals; it is an accessory for painting. The masks are shaped to match the framing of the glazing, are stuck onto the clear part, sprayed over together with the surrounding area and lifted off once dry. The single-sided version covers the outer side of the clear parts.
The Do 335 Pfeil was a German aircraft with an unusual tandem power arrangement: one engine with a tractor propeller in the nose and a second with a pusher propeller behind the cockpit, together with a cruciform tail. The B series was conceived as a heavier combat variant and the B-6 subversion as a two-seat night fighter; the development of the whole program remained unfinished at the end of the war and the type never reached wider service. The two-seat cockpit with an additional rear station means more framed panes of glazing than the basic single-seat version has.
Wash the clear part in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry; a degreased surface is the condition for good adhesion. Lift the masks out with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers, seat them exactly on the frame and press them down with a wooden stick all around the perimeter. Where the outline needs finishing up to the edge of the frame, run a fresh blade lightly so that no groove is left in the clear plastic. Spray the paint in thin coats and let them flash off; a single heavy coat will flow under the edge and blur the line. The usual order is the interior shade and, once dry, the exterior covering color. Lift the masks shortly after drying, pulling at an angle along the surface.
The box holds the masking set only. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
