An injection-molded plastic kit of an unassembled and unpainted model of the German Dornier Do 335 in the two-seat B-6 night fighter version. The 1:32 scale makes good use of both the striking shapes of the aircraft and its extensive interior. This is a large model aimed rather at more experienced modelers.
The Dornier Do 335 Pfeil was a German aircraft of the end of the Second World War with the unusual arrangement of two engines on the axis of the fuselage, one driving a tractor propeller at the front and the other a pusher propeller behind the cockpit. The layout gave the power of a twin-engine machine without the drag of engine nacelles on the wing, and it places the Do 335 among the fastest piston-engine aircraft of its day. The B-6 version was a two-seat night fighter conversion with a second crew member, and it stayed at the prototype stage, as series production never got under way.
Because of the pusher propeller and the long nose, it is worth checking the balance of the model in advance, so that it does not sit back on its tail. Paint and weather the cockpit and the space for the second crew member before you close the fuselage. Mask the glazing and spray the camouflage transitions of the night fighter in thin coats, ideally with an airbrush. Use a gloss varnish under the decals and keep the weathering restrained: on late aircraft it is usually better to suggest dust and traces of use than pronounced corrosion.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
