This is a set of three-dimensional color decals from the manufacturer Quinta Studio, which combines three-dimensional printing with printing on decal paper. The result is plastic, already painted elements of the cockpit which are stuck directly onto the parts of a kit. The set is not a kit and not a model of an aircraft - it is an accessory which makes detailing the interior faster and more precise. On a number of subjects Quinta issues two variants, the full one and the smaller one; this set is the smaller one, that is, a narrower selection of elements. Check the exact contents of the package on the packaging. The decals are shaped to the parts of the Trumpeter kit.
The Grumman F-14A Tomcat was a two-seat carrier fighter of the US Navy with a variable-geometry wing. It entered service in the first half of the 1970s and its main task was the defense of the aircraft carrier formation at long range. The F-14A version used Pratt & Whitney TF30 engines and the AWG-9 radar, which in combination with AIM-54 Phoenix guided missiles made it possible to attack targets at great distances. The rear seat belonged to the weapon systems officer, so the cockpit has two different workstations, and that is exactly why detailing pays off on it.
The Quinta three-dimensional decals are applied differently from classic wet decals, and for the exact procedure go by the instructions enclosed in the package. In general it holds: degrease the base, have the cockpit parts sprayed with a base color and let them cure thoroughly. Transfer the elements with tweezers and seat them at the first attempt, as corrections are limited. Leave out the decal softener, as it would damage the resin print. Before sticking them on, try the set dry to see whether it suits the particular parts. Once dry, the panel is nicely brought out by a dark wash into the recesses and a gentle dry brush on the edges.
The package holds only decals. The kit, paints, glue and varnishes are not part of it.
