A premium injection-molded kit of the American F-15E Strike Eagle fighter-bomber in the large 1:32 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya. It is one of the most extensive and most elaborate mass-produced aircraft kits on the market - the finished model is over 60 cm long and offers detail that cannot be achieved in smaller scales. The main fuselage and wing parts are joined with screws, a number of panels (the radar in the nose, the gun barrel cover) can be opened and closed, the cockpit, the radar and the barrel are modeled in fine detail, the landing gear legs are made of metal (die-cast) and the tires of synthetic rubber. The modeler has a choice of canopy position and airbrake position. The package contains a rich set of external stores for faithful combat loads, including the heavy bunker-busting bomb and other guided missiles and bombs.
The F-15E Strike Eagle is the American two-seat multirole fighter-bomber version derived from the F-15 Eagle air superiority fighter. Unlike the pure fighter versions it is adapted for precision strikes on ground targets in any weather, by day and by night, while keeping a strong air combat capability. The rear crew member operates the weapon guidance systems. The bunker buster designation belongs to the heavy bomb that penetrates hardened and deeply buried targets (typically the GBU-28) - a weapon intended to destroy tough command posts and underground bunkers that ordinary bombs cannot reach.
Given the extent and the weight of the parts it pays to build in subassemblies and to use the screwed joints for a firm yet demountable fit. Finish and paint the cockpit and the interior before you close the fuselage - once it is glued there is no access to them. Protect the canopy glazing with masks and bond it with canopy cement that does not fog. On the large surfaces of the F-15 a quality airbrush coat over a primer shows to advantage; paint and weather the external stores separately and fit them at the very end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
