Eduard 1:32 F-18 mesh set - photo-etched set

A photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:32 scale holding fine metal meshes and grilles for the F/A-18 Hornet carrier-based aircraft. It is not an airplane model but an accessory that replaces the solid plastic grilles on a plastic kit with faithfully pierced photo-etched features.

The real subject

The F/A-18 Hornet has a number of intakes, outlets and cooling grilles on its surface. Photo-etched meshes make it possible to show these features far more realistically than injection-molded plastic allows.

Use and fitting

  • The meshes are cut from the fret and trimmed to fit the given opening.
  • They are formed carefully over a cylindrical object so that they follow the curvature.
  • They are glued with super glue applied in a small amount around the edge.
  • Before gluing we recommend degreasing the brass and coating it with a base for metal.

Who it is for

  • Advanced modelers with an interest in the greatest possible realism of the surface.
  • Builders of large scales, where the grilles are clearly visible.

This is an add-on photo-etched set. The plastic kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
