This is a photo-etched accessory of thin brass sheet meant for refining the outer details of a model of the F4U-1A Corsair fighter in 1:32 scale. It is not an airplane model or a kit, but an add-on set for more advanced modelers who want to bring the surface of a build closer to the real subject.
The photo-etched parts replace or supplement the features that are hard to cast in plastic at a fine thickness, typically outer panels, flaps, stiffeners, covers and other small details on the surface of the airframe. Thin metal reads more realistically than thicker plastic castings and gives a model fidelity true to scale.
The parts are separated from the fret with a sharp blade or special shears for etching, formed with a bending tool or with the help of a ruler and glued with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or a small amount of epoxy. Before spraying paint it is worth degreasing the metal surfaces and treating them with a base coat for better adhesion.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
