This is a colored decal set for the interior of a model of the F/A-18D in its late form, in 1:32 scale and in the small version. The designation small version is carried by the name of the product itself and sets it apart from the full set of the same subject. It is not a kit, but an accessory applied to finished and painted parts of the model. The set is intended for the Academy kit.
The F/A-18 Hornet is a twin-engined multirole carrier aircraft. The D version is the two-seat variant with seats in tandem, used also for tasks where the second crew member looked after the operation of the systems. Two cockpits one behind the other mean a larger area on which detail is visible, so a colored print tells well on a model in 1:32 scale.
The base has to be smooth and glossy. Paint the part and brush a gloss clear coat over it; a matte surface holds air under the decal and the edges then show through silver. Release the decal in lukewarm water, move it into place, align it and blot the excess water away. On shaped surfaces, press the element down with a cotton swab and let it dry without interference; the manufacturer forbids a decal softener as well as a decal fixer. Once dry, unify the interior with a varnish according to the gloss you want.
The set replaces the flat parts of the kit — smooth plastic becomes a colored surface with an impression of depth, without your having to paint the smallest areas with a brush. Degrease the plastic before applying and sand down the coarser relief.
The set is an accessory to a kit, not a standalone model. Paints, glue and gloss varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
