Service hatches and their latches for the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8 and F-8 in 1:32 scale are photo-etched and also contain a part for rebuilding the older versions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The photo-etched set replaces the service hatches and their latches on the fuselage of a large model. Besides the parts for the late A-8 rendition and the ground-attack F-8, it also holds a lower hatch corresponding to the older A-5, A-6 and A-7 versions, so the set serves at the same time as a basis for rebuilding to an earlier variant.
The Fw 190 came into being in Kurt Tank's design office as a counterweight to slender fighters with an inline engine. The BMW 801 radial gave the machine a stiff nose, high speed near the ground and resistance to hits. The A-8 rendition of 1944 was the most numerous and carried machine guns of larger caliber ahead of the cockpit. The ground-attack F-8 received bomb racks and a strengthened lower part of the airframe. The service hatches were precisely among the places that differed the most between the individual versions.
The cast imitations of the hatches are first sanded flat off the plastic and the surface is polished over, so that the thin metal does not stand on an edge anywhere. The latches are small, so transferring them with a dampened toothpick has proved itself. Finally cover the whole surface with a gloss coat, otherwise the decals around the metal will silver. Degrease the metal before painting and give it a thin primer.
