A set of injection-molded plastic figures of a French cuirassier from the Napoleonic Wars in 1:32 scale from Master Box. The box contains a rider on a horse and an accompanying civilian figure, so together they make a small genre vignette. The set offers well worked-out folds of the uniform, the cuirass, the helmet and good anatomy of the horse.
Cuirassiers were heavy cavalry armed and protected by a metal cuirass and helmet; in the Napoleonic army they were the shock element intended for decisive mounted charges. The scene of the set alludes to the hardships of campaigning, when the cavalry moved through difficult terrain and weather. The model serves as a historical and diorama rendering of a period figure, with no evaluative intent.
Separate the parts from the sprues carefully and clean them up; plan the assembly of the rider on the horse in advance, so that the figure seats properly in the saddle. Glue with modeling cement for plastic. A primer and painting the faces with a layering technique both pay off; pick out the metal of the cuirass and the helmet with metallic shades and a gentle sheen, and the horse with a coat shade and a dry brush.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
