A collector figure meant to complement an aircraft model or a scene from the years 1914 to 1918. According to the name it is a French airman in 1:32 scale, that is in the same scale as most of the large biplane kits of this era. It is published by Dynamo-Models.
Flying over the Western Front took place in open cockpits, where the temperature dropped fast and the wind was unbearable. Crews therefore wore leather coats lined with fur, close-fitting helmets, goggles and scarves that protected the neck against the cold and against oil thrown off by the rotary engine. It is exactly this kit that makes a figure of an airman immediately recognizable and sets it apart from ground personnel. For a diorama it is also interesting because it naturally suggests a story: walking up to the machine, resting after landing or talking to a mechanic.
Degrease the figure and apply a primer, and only then build the shades. The leather of the clothing is built up by gradually lightening the surfaces and by a darker shadow in the seams and folds. A face only looks alive after several thin coats and gentle blending of the transitions. Try the figure dry beside the model before painting, so that the height and the pose work.
