A self-adhesive masking set in 1:32 scale for the plastic model of the Gloster Meteor F.4 jet fighter. It is not a kit or decals; it is an accessory for painting. The masks match the framing of the glazing, are stuck onto the clear part, sprayed over together with the surrounding area and lifted off once dry. The double-sided version allows for both the outer and the inner side of the clear parts, so the frames visible looking out from the cockpit can be painted as well.
The Meteor was a British twin-engine jet fighter and the only Allied jet type to see combat service in the Second World War. The postwar F.4 version was given more powerful engines and, in some batches, shortened wings; speed records were set with the Meteor at this time. The cockpit has a framed canopy and a windscreen, which are exactly the areas where hand taping costs the most time.
Wash the clear part in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry so that the mask holds all around the perimeter. With a double-sided set it works well to start with the inner side and the interior shade, let it dry and only then move to the outer side. Lift the masks out with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers, seat them exactly on the frame and press them down with a wooden stick. Where the outline needs finishing up to the edge of the frame, run a fresh blade without pressure. Spray in thin coats with a delay; a heavy coat in one pass runs under the edge of the mask. Lift the masks shortly after the paint has dried, pulling at an angle along the surface.
The box holds the masking set only. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
