A kit of the British Hawker Hurricane fighter in the Mk.IIa version, in 1:32 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. On this type the 1:32 scale leaves room for the cockpit interior, the engine section and the landing gear bays.
The Hawker Hurricane was a single-seat fighter of mixed construction: a tube frame fuselage with fabric covering at the rear and a metal wing on the later production batches. That construction was exactly what made it easy to repair under field conditions, and the aircraft took considerable damage in its stride. The Mk.II version brought the more powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin XX engine with a single-stage two-speed supercharger, which improved performance at greater heights. The Mk.IIa subvariant kept the 7.7 mm machine gun armament in the wing, while later subvariants went over to twelve machine guns, or to cannons. The Hurricane served with the Royal Air Force and with other operators across several theaters, and Czechoslovak pilots flew in its cockpits too.
Dry-fit the parts before you reach for the glue and true the mating surfaces up with a file as needed; with kits in this scale a slow-setting cement, which gives time to line the parts up, tends to pay off. Finish and weather the cockpit interior and the landing gear bays before you close up the fuselage, because afterward you will not reach them. Mask the cockpit glazing and spray the frames with the interior shade first, only then with the top camouflage. Lay a primer on the surface, then thin coats of the covering color, and a gloss varnish before the decals; after the decals come a wash into the engraved lines and a matte varnish to finish. On the fabric part of the fuselage do not overdo the pronounced panel lines, because the covering there was not divided up the way metal skin is.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
