Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of wet decals for models of the Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIB fighter in 1:32 scale. The fifth part of a numbered series that the maker devotes to the individual chapters of the Hurricane's service turns this time to machines carrying American markings. The sheet is an accessory for a model; the aircraft itself is not included.
The Hurricane Mk.IIB is the version with the Rolls-Royce Merlin XX engine and with a wing fitted with twelve 7.7 mm machine guns. It was the Mk.IIB that was the most widespread machine-gun version and that reached a great many users far beyond the borders of Britain, because the Royal Air Force passed it on to its allies. A model of a Hurricane with American national insignia will therefore surprise even experienced visitors to a cabinet - it is a combination few would expect on a British fighter, and yet it has its grounding in real service.
The procedure is the same as with any good wet sheet. Spray the base with the final color, let it cure and varnish it with a gloss coat - only over gloss will a decal blend in without a white veil. Separate the decal, soak it in lukewarm water and move it into place, where you align it with a brush. A decal softener will make sure the sheet clings to the engraved relief. Apply the large national insignia first, so that you have room to center them, and only then place the smaller elements by them. Finally even the surface up with a matte varnish.
