About product

Three-dimensional interior decals He 111 P/H 1:32 (Quinta Studio, smaller variant)

This Quinta Studio set brings three-dimensional, already painted interior parts printed on decal paper. They are applied directly onto the parts of a plastic kit and replace the laborious painting of small instruments and panels. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for a modeler who buys the kit separately. For many subjects the manufacturer releases a full and a smaller variant; this set is the smaller one, that is a narrower selection of parts. Check the particular contents of the package on the packaging.

The real subject

The Heinkel He 111 was a German twin-engined medium bomber used in the Second World War. The P version had liquid-cooled Daimler-Benz DB 601 engines, while the more numerous H version used Junkers Jumo 211 engines. Both types share the characteristic fully glazed asymmetric nose, in which the navigator and the bomb aimer sat. It is precisely this glazed nose that matters from a modeling point of view: the interior is visible through it almost in full, so detailing the cockpit pays off more on the He 111 than on aircraft with a small canopy.

Application tips

The procedure differs from classic wet decals, so follow the instructions in the package. Before applying, degrease the parts, spray them with the base interior color and let them cure fully. Transfer the parts with tweezers and seat them on the first attempt. Do not include a decal softener in the procedure, as it would attack the printed resin. It pays to offer them up dry first and check how they sit. With a cockpit this heavily glazed, count on the roof and the side walls being visible too, so plan in advance what you will detail and in what order you will close up the fuselage.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of large bombers, where the interior is largely on show
  • Modelers who want legible instrument panels without hand painting
  • Anyone looking for a faster alternative to etched sets
  • Collectors of Second World War subjects in 1:32 scale

The package contains decals only. The kit, paints and glue are not part of it.

FAQ

It is not. This is exclusively a set of interior decals. The plastic model is bought separately. The target kit is the Revell, or ProModeler, one.

According to its name the set is meant for the P and H versions. The particular extent of the parts for each variant is given in the instructions on the packaging.

On the He 111, yes. The glazed nose reveals a large part of the cockpit, so the detailing shows more than on fighters with a small canopy.

Once cured it is usually sprayed with a matte or semi-matte varnish to suit the look you want. Check the procedure on a leftover piece.
