An extensive masking set for the glazing of the Heinkel He 219 UHU night fighter in 1:32 scale, cut for the kit by Revell. It covers the glazed nose and the cockpit, and that from both sides.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Heinkel He 219 was designed from the start as a night fighter and offered several firsts for its day. It received nose gear, which was unusual on a German combat aircraft, and it was the first production machine in the world with ejection seats for both members of the crew. Obliquely aimed armament was fitted in the fuselage, with which it attacked bombers from below, outside their field of defense. The development was accompanied by disputes and the order was canceled several times, so only around 300 were built. The A-2, A-5 and A-7 sub-versions differed in engines and in the mix of weapons. On them experienced radar operators could guide the pilot onto several targets in succession in a single night.
This type has glazing spread over the whole nose and a two-seat cockpit besides. There are therefore considerably more shapes than on a single-seat fighter and mixing up two similar pieces costs an hour of work. It pays to lay the sheet out and match the shapes to the individual windows in advance, or to number them on paper. They can then be lifted in groups rather than all at once, and finished windows are covered straight away so that dust does not settle on fresh paint. Work divided up takes longer but saves repairs.
The model itself has to be obtained separately, as this item does not include it.
