Die-cut films for masking the Il-2M3 ground-attack aircraft in a large scale. They mask the cockpit glazing from the outer and the inner face and contain two stencils with which the national insignia are sprayed instead of a decal being applied.
Responsibility details are not available.
Soviet ground-attack regiments used the late Ilyushins in what was called the circle of death, in which the machines circled over the target and took turns attacking one after another, so that the fire on a column never let up. The rear gunner kept pursuing fighters at bay and the swept outer wing gave the overloaded machine its handling back. Without these aircraft the breaking of the armored wedges at Kursk in the summer of 1943 would have looked quite different.
The box contains masking of the glazing from both faces and two parts for the national insignia. A supplementary decal sheet does not belong to this composition, so the markings arise purely in paint.
Never tear the film off perpendicular to the surface. Raise a corner with a blade, catch it with tweezers and pull slowly back over itself, that is almost parallel to the surface. A pull at an acute angle transfers the force into the finish and peels it away. If a matte bloom is left by the adhesive, wipe it off with a cloth lightly moistened in denatured alcohol, never in thinner. Save the job for a time when you are in no hurry. Lukewarm water also softens the edge of the film and the resistance while pulling drops noticeably, which is useful especially on the narrow bars between panes.
